The story behind the work

My work is rooted in advocacy, storytelling, creativity, and community. Through SAMA, writing, and my creative projects, I strive to create meaningful work that inspires connection, encourages self-expression, and reminds people they are seen and valued.

Whether I’m supporting others through advocacy, or sharing stories through writing, my goal is to create with purpose, compassion, and a little creativity along the way.

about me

I'm a first-generation Filipino American, and so much of who I am today comes from the experiences, sacrifices, and resilience of my family. Growing up, I learned early on that life does not always move in a straight line. There were moments filled with uncertainty, obstacles, and paths that felt lost. Through community, education, healing, and perseverance, I continued finding my way forward.

I earned my undergraduate degree from San Francisco State University, where I completed a double major along with a minor in Labor & Employment Studies, before continuing my education at California State University, East Bay, where I received my Master of Public Administration in Policy Analysis and Management. My professional background spans legal services, nonprofit organizations, public policy, advocacy, and community support. These experiences have shaped the way I see the world and strengthened my belief in the importance of compassion, connection, and creating spaces where people feel seen and supported.

Advocacy, Healing & Community

I founded SAMA, Survivors Advocating for Mental Health Awareness, because I understand the importance of having support, understanding, and a safe space to heal. I wanted to build a community rooted in advocacy, education, wellness, and honest conversations surrounding mental health, trauma, and resilience.

My hope has always been to remind people that they are not alone, and that healing does not have to happen in isolation. Through SAMA, I continue to explore ways to uplift others, create meaningful connections, and make resources more accessible to those who need them.

Writing, Creativity & Becoming

Beyond my work in advocacy and community engagement, I've always been drawn to creativity and storytelling. Writing has become a space for reflection, meaning-making, and personal growth—a way to make sense of life's experiences and share the lessons that come from both painful and beautiful seasons.

I'm currently working on my memoir, Becoming the Person I Needed, along with ideas for future planners and paper goods. These projects are part of a longer journey of learning to honor my voice, embrace change, and create things that feel meaningful to me.

For me, creativity isn't about fitting into one category. It's about giving myself permission to explore, experiment, and bring the ideas in my head into the world.

A Life Still Becoming

Nadia Kristine is a reflection of the many things that make me who I am: my experiences, my values, my stories, and my creativity. It's a space for the work I'm building, the things I'm learning, and the ideas I'm not quite ready to let go of.

I've learned that we don't have to have every chapter figured out to keep moving forward. We can change direction, rediscover ourselves, and make room for parts of us that have been waiting to come alive.

Whether I'm working on community initiatives, writing a story, or dreaming up what's next, I hope the things I create remind others that there's beauty in becoming who you are.

Thank you for being here and being part of the journey.
