On finding your way back to yourself, embracing new beginnings, and learning to become.
There is something beautiful about beginning again.
Not necessarily because we are excited about starting over, but because somewhere along the way, we find the courage to try again. To take everything we've experienced, everything we've learned, and everything we've outgrown, and make room for something new.
For a long time, I thought becoming meant having a plan. Knowing where I was going, understanding who I wanted to be, and feeling confident about the steps I was taking to get there.
But life has a way of reminding us that growth doesn't always happen according to plan.
Sometimes it looks like letting go of a version of yourself you worked so hard to become. Sometimes it means changing directions, sitting with uncomfortable feelings, or accepting that the life you once imagined might look different than the one you're building.
And sometimes, becoming simply means giving yourself permission to start over.
Finding my way back to myself
I've experienced seasons that have changed the way I see myself, the people around me, and the world I want to create.
I've experienced loss, unexpected endings, new beginnings, and moments that required me to find strength I didn't always know I had. I've celebrated milestones, questioned my direction, and learned that it's okay for life to look different than I once imagined.
Through all of it, I've come to appreciate the people, experiences, and little moments that remind us who we are.
I've also learned that we don't have to turn every difficult experience into a lesson immediately. Sometimes we just need room to feel, process, and figure things out in our own time.
That realization is part of what inspired me to write.
The story behind the book
My upcoming memoir, Becoming the Person I Needed, is something deeply personal to me.
It's a collection of reflections, memories, and lessons from different chapters of my life. It explores the little girl I once was, the woman I've become, the people who have shaped me, and the experiences that have challenged me to see myself differently.
More than anything, I wanted to create something that could reach someone who might be navigating a season of their own.
The person who feels behind in life. The person who is starting over. The person who has spent so much time showing up for everyone else that they've forgotten how to show up for themselves.
I hope that somewhere within these pages, someone finds a reminder that they are not alone.
Creating space for more
This website is another little beginning for me.
I wanted a space where I could share more than just a book. A place for storytelling, personal reflections, advocacy, meaningful conversations, and the things that inspire me along the way.
Writing has always given me a way to express things that are sometimes difficult to say out loud. I hope this space can offer that same sense of connection to someone else.
Beyond my writing, I'm passionate about mental health awareness, community advocacy, and creating opportunities for people to feel supported. Through my work with Survivors Advocating for Mental Health Awareness (SAMA), I hope to continue building spaces where people feel seen, heard, and reminded that they don't have to navigate everything alone.
There is still so much I hope to create, share, and experience. I don't have every detail figured out, and maybe that's the point.
A little reminder as we begin
If you're reading this and find yourself in a season of uncertainty, I hope you give yourself a little grace.
You are allowed to change your mind. You are allowed to outgrow things. You are allowed to take a different path, celebrate small victories, and begin again as many times as you need.
You don't have to become someone entirely different to be proud of who you are becoming.
And you don't have to have everything figured out to be moving forward.
So, welcome. I'm glad our paths crossed here.
Here's to the stories we carry, the chapters we haven't written, and the beautiful, imperfect process of becoming.
With love,
Nadia Kristine
Still becoming, always.
